The African Union (AU) at Expo 2020 Dubai will convene some of the leading executives and senior leaders of industry from across the African continent, to examine existing linkages between the public and private sector.
The AU CEO Forum - to be hosted at Dubai Exhibition Centre South Hall 2A at Expo 2020 Dubai - will see over 50 mavericks’ of domestic, regional and global organisations alongside heads of government entities, to explore the evolving integration of the AU’s Agenda 2063 for Trade and Investment in Africa.
Some of the CEO’s and industry executives include Dr. Sidi Ould TAH, Director-General, Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA); Prof. Benedict ORAMAH, President, AfreximBank; H.E. Hanan MORSY, Deputy Executive-Secretary and Chief Economist, UNECA; H.E. Amb. Albert MUCHANGA, Commissioner, Economic Development, Trade, Tourism, Industry and Mining, African Union Commission; Mr. Samo Onyemelukwe, CEO, Trace; Mrs. Lily Alfonso, Fashion Designer; Dr Jean-Denis Gabikini, African Union Commission; Ms. Leslie Richer, Director of Communication and Information, African Union Commission and Amb. Albert MUCHANGA, Economic Development, Trade, Tourism, Industry and Mining, African Union Commission.
Acting Director of the Economic Development, Trade, Industry, Mining and AU Expo 2020 Dubai Deputy Commissioner General, Mr Chiza Charles Chiumya remarked that this forum comes at the opportune time for the African continent in times of post-covid economic rebuilding.
“Our continent has done well to mitigate some of the economic challenges seen over the last two years, execerbated by the pandemic and its unequal impact in comparisson with the rest of the world,”
Deputy Commissioner General Chiumya went on to say that “the challenges have spurred on changes across multiple sectors of industry, including but not limited to trade and manufacturing. Fast tracking the use of technology as the bedrock of these industries whilst cementing Africa’s place as an ideal investment hub,”
“This is our opportunity now, to come together as leaders from our various member states, to collectively make good use of this exciting opportunity to tweak our continental agenda for economic revival and spurr on industrial innovation that will bring solutions that place women and youth in the forefront" said Mr. Chiumya.
The two-day executive gathering will see a total of six sessions - including a side bar chat - covering a wide range of topics led by dynamic moderators, to best extract knowledge that will inform newer and lasting competitive strategies. These will be followed by a focus session on the presentation of the 2021 African Integration Report, which will be led by Prof. Wanyama masinde from the Centre for Regional Integration.
Mr. Chiumya reiterated: “This huge turn out of executives is a compelling show of unity, that the African people enjoy as we look to build towards the sustainability of our beloved continent and believe in the realization of the ideals of shared prosperity as envisaged through the strategic framework detailed in Agenda 2063.”
